Postdoctoral Research Fellow at IMAMOTER - CNR

December 2009 - Present | Torino

I'm a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Agricultural and Earthmoving Machines (IMAMOTER) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). Guided by a user-centred-design methodology, I'm responsible for the ergonomic interventions related to technologies used in agricultural activity. Specifically, I'm interested in increasing job safety aspects by reducing mental workload of operators involved in drive and control tasks of agricultural machines, in improving usability aspects of agricultural tools and machines, in identifying and reducing errors and in improving operators' wellbeing and overall system performance.

Research Fellow at University of Hertfordshire

January 2007 - October 2009

As a member of the Adaptive Systems Research Group at University of Hertfordshire, School of Computer Science, I was involved in the IROMEC European project. The project investigated how robotic toys can provide opportunities for learning and enjoyment and developed conceptual framework and technological basis for robots as social mediator, empowering children with special needs to discover the range of play styles from solitary to social and cooperative play. I have been involved in the literature review process related to play activities of children with existing technology, in the process of developing play scenarios, and in the specification and the evaluation of educational and therapeutic objectives of children with special needs interacting with the IROMEC social robot. The objectives have been classified with reference to the ICF-CY, the International Classification of Functioning - version for Children and Youth.
